still is a photographic series portraying apparently motionless scenes with a dual perspective given by a water reflection.
Different motions provide different reflective qualities, primarily observable in the smoothness of the water plane. Photos are vertically inverted to enhance the awareness of these qualities.
From this reversed device, as motion recedes and stillness approaches, references are lost, emerging a structureless, suspended, unreal world.
The still, non-referential places arising are nonetheless as true as their reverse. The treachery of the images is the treachery of the percept. We see things where they are not, in a obscure placeless place that opens up behind the surface that breaches from stillness. On the other side of the mirror reality is no less: remapped photons of truth.
